Two separate ten day sessions

Flavor of Provence

Session 1: Starts June 3rd, ends June 12th, 2003

Session 2: Starts June 17th, ends June 26th, 2003 - Not Available

Session 3: Starts Saturday, October 18th, ends Monday, October 27th

During your Flavor of Provence gastronomic adventure, most mornings will begin with a continental breakfast, then a drive to a bustling village market where we will gather all the ingredients for the evening dinner. I leave La Baume Victoire between 8:00 and 8:30 every morning with my mini-bus to purchase the freshest products. You may accompany me as I lead you through the market stalls, from green grocer to butcher, cheese seller to fishmonger.

You will also have time to explore the villages and shop for yourself (or with the assistance of Marie-France, if language or bargaining is an issue). Joie de vivre is seen everywhere: in the eyes of easygoing merchants selling spices, lavender products and local remedies; in the faces of busy café waiters and patrons; in the lively sidewalk crowds. Enjoy a light lunch on a sunny terrace, or perhaps you’ll run into artists singing French oldies.

If you choose to skip a daily market trip, there’s still plenty to do “back home.” La Baume Victoire is centered in the Parc Naturel du Lubéron, so numerous outdoor activities can easily be integrated into your stay. A tennis court is a five minute walk from the house, swimming with an incredible view is at your doorstep, and miles of trails are nearby for walking or running. One of the most beautiful golf courses in France (where Bernard, owner of La Baume Victoire, is a member) is only a 45 minute scenic drive away in L’Isles sur Sorgue, one of the most unique towns in Provence. Three more golf courses are within the same close drive.

In the evenings as you prepare dinner with me, basic chopping and cooking techniques will be taught in a friendly ambiance. I will also introduce you to some of the best regional wines.

Later on you can take part in a game of Pétanque or sip Cognac under the stars as the cigales (cicadas) tune up and play their evening concert.

I hope you will join us for one of these trips.
